Experience Mining For Genuine Montana Sapphires in SODO, Seattle

About this activity

This activity is for the magpies, crows, beach combers, and those who like to do something a little different! Learn about sapphire mining, hunt for treasure, and share a unique experience with your friends and family!

What's included

  • ✓One cup of sapphire gravel, and all equiptment and instructions needed for washing and sorting it

Not included

  • ✕All additional cups of sapphire gravel can be purchased in person for $10/cup

Meeting and pickup

  • Find free parking in the gravel lot at the corner of 1st ave S. and Hanford on the north side of the Trigger Building. Find DOOR B through that parking lot and call Glitter and Gold Studio on the intercom for building access!

Good to know

  • Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
  • Service animals allowed
  • Public transportation options are available nearby
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • Please get in touch with us ahead of time if you have any specific accessibility needs and we'll do our best to accommodate! Trigger Building does not have any permanent accessibility entrances, however we can rent ramps with enough notice, and sapphire mining takes place all on one floor. There is some getting up and down off the floor and balancing of liquids in the setup process (we can help with this part). The actual mining involves sitting for long stretches and staring into light. If any of this concerns you, get in touch and we'll see what accommodations we can work out!
