The walled village of Monsaraz is located atop a hill overlooking the Guadiana River and the modern Spanish border. Archaeological evidence indicates that the village has been occupied, in some form, since prehistory – understandable given its important location.

Monsaraz boasts historic monuments, traditional homes, restaurants, cafes, and shops selling locally made products. Particularly notable is the Castle of Monsaraz, built by the Portuguese King Dinis in the 14th century.

Join us on this tour to discover the enchanting medieval village and castle of Monsaraz. We’ll start by picking everyone up at the Roman Temple in Évora, then embark on a scenic 55-minute drive to the historic village of Monsaraz.
