About this activity

Experience Maui with a family and Coast Guard veteran-owned crew that puts safety, personal attention, and a genuine connection to the island first. Two of our four guides grew up on Maui and bring local knowledge and a firsthand love of the ocean to every tour. We keep groups small, with just eight guests per guide, so you can enjoy a more personal experience on the water.

Paddle a clear-bottom kayak over the shallow reefs and lava formations of Makena’s Turtle Town, then hop in for the included, optional snorkel. Look for sea turtles, tropical fish, and other marine life as your guide leads you to great spots to explore.

Beat the trade winds with our 7–10 AM tour, when ocean conditions are calmest. From the water, take in views of Haleakalā, the West Maui Mountains, Molokini, and nearby islands. During winter, you may also spot humpback whales in the sanctuary.

Meeting and pickup

  • Meet up is at Makena Landing Park. We will text your cell phone with a pinned google map location the day before the tour. Our company truck is a navy blue ford with clear kayak stickers on both sides. If you need to catch an Uber then book the day before (not the morning of).

  • Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • Kayak Weight Limits & Options: For your safety, our clear kayaks have a maximum individual weight limit of 220 lbs. If you weigh more than 220 lbs, don’t worry — we can accommodate you in one of our regular kayaks, which have an individual weight limit of 290 lbs. We have two regular kayaks available, so please contact us after booking to reserve one if needed.
  • Tandem Kayaks: Tandem kayaks have a combined weight limit of 420 lbs. The 220 lb individual limit still applies to guests using our clear kayaks. Bookings for two adults are normally assigned a tandem kayak, subject to availability and weight limits.
  • For your safety and comfort, please let us know before your tour if you have any medical conditions, are pregnant, or have any dietary restrictions we should be aware of. Please contact us by email so we can discuss any necessary precautions and help ensure you have the best possible experience.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
